BAYONNE SPECTROLITE

A spectrolite is a rare iridescent mineral, commonly used as gemstone and found most widely in Finland, where it's reported to display its full spectrum of colours best. There you go, who says music blogging is a foolhardy pursuit, eh? Anyway, Austin composer Roger Sellers is clearly a man who knows his labradorites from his spectrolites, he's even named his latest single as Bayonne after the latter. Drawn from his forthcoming album on excellent US indie, Mom + Pop (who have released records from Courtney Barnett, Flume and Hinds), 'Spectrolite' displays Sellers' knack for creating dreamy soundscapes, with unravelling sample loops, insistent snare fills and his own hypnotic vocal lines floating into the ether with grace and aplomb. - DC
